ONLY DEMS CARE ABOUT YOU & THE INFLATION REDUCTION ACT

As noted above, passing the Inflation Reduction Act involved only Democratic Senators and House members. NO Republicans voted for this significant landmark legislation.

That says a lot about the Republicans -- they really don't care about YOU or --  Energy Security, Climate Change, Healthcare, or Economic and Tax Fairness.  

Don’t be fooled, the Republicans are NOT the party of fiscal responsibility.

Dems Pass the Inflation Reduction Act

The Dems’ Inflation Reduction Act (the “Act”) -- addressing major progress in climate change, healthcare savings, and tax fairness -- passed the Senate on August 7 and passed the House on August 12. President Biden will be signing this Act very soon!

It supports $437 Billion of Funding for Energy Security/Climate Change and Healthcare -- with $737 Billion of Revenues and Savings.  So it pays for itself and pays $300 Billion toward the deficit of the Trump years.

This move by Democrats is historic in its scope to help the American people. It also was a masterful way to finally make real progress on climate change, economic relief and tax fairness for 2022 when only Democratic votes are available.

Democrats Lead the Way for the CHIPs Act

The COVID lockdown in 2020 pointed out the national security exposure of the U.S. not manufacturing its own semi-conductors. We were left without many essential products, severe damage to our economy and spikes in the cost of living.

The Democrats, with strong support from President Biden, and heavy lobbying by industry passed the bipartisan CHIPs and Science Act for subsidizing and incentivizing domestic manufacturing of semi-conductors. This was signed into law by President Biden on August 9.

Democrats Stand Up for Veterans!

Democrats Succeed in Passing the PACT Act for Veterans’ Healthcare

The PACT Act (the “Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics Act of 2022” bill) had been heavily anticipated by Veterans to cover medical and mental health care for exposure to toxic substances during their military deployments.

In June 2022, PACT passed the Senate 84 - 14, bypassing filibuster. The House passed the bill, and it went back to the Senate for a revote to correct a technical error in late July.

Unfortunately, more than 25 Republican Senators inexplicably changed their votes to NO -- causing a 55 to 42 vote that doomed the bill under filibuster.

Rep. Joe Neguse - Wildfire Response & Drought Resiliency Act - July 29

With wildfires and drought becoming increasingly existential problems for Colorado and neighboring states, the House took action at the end of July, passing a package of nearly 50 bills that Rep. Joe Neguse says “meets the moment for the West.”

Neguse is a lead sponsor on the package, known as the Wildfire Response and Drought Resiliency Act, as well as the author of some of its specific provisions. It passed the House on a nearly party-line vote of 218-199.

“We need to apply a ‘whole of government’ approach to recovery — creating and funding several programs that support community rebuilding and bolster environmental resiliency,” said Neguse at a press conference ahead of the vote. He said the provisions in the bill would do that, as well as make improvements to working conditions for federal wildland firefighters.

Standing Up To Lies & Hate Speech - McMorrow

On April 27, 2022, we published an amazing story about Mallory McMorrow, a Michigan Democratic State Senator, who was targeted with serious lies and disinformation by a Republican State Senator.  

Senator McMorrow decided to stand up to those lies and hate speech with an articulate, honest, and emotional speech expressing her outrage on the floor of the Michigan State Senate.  Her response went viral and made national news.  We first published her speech because it was extremely impressive.
